2008 Pediatric Summit
The 2008 Pediatric Summit was held in Rogers, Arkansas September 12-14 at the Embassy Suites.  Dr. Joe Hagan, Jr. addressed the conference attendees during Saturday's Plenary Session.  As one of the three editors of the Third Edition of Bright Futures, his talk focused on Bright Futures:  The Evolution of Developmental, Behavioral, Mental Health Screening and Treatment in the Medical Home.  Dr. Hagan is a private practice pediatrician in Burlington, Vermont.  To view the slides from his presentation, you may log into the members only page by clicking here

Strategies for System Change in Children's Mental Health Roundtable Discussions
The ARAAP facilitated roundtable discussion groups to convene representatives from the pediatric primary health care community and mental health providers to discuss ways to improve collaboration and communication between PCPs and mental health professionals.  2 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 CME credits were offered to participants this educational activity.

2009 Legislative Conference
The ARAAP hosted its second biennial conference for members and guests to discuss child health and advocacy issues in the upcoming 2009 Legislature.  Participants gained a better understanding of the legislative process and how to become community advocates to improve the lives of the children in our state.  This year's conference was held Saturday, January 24 in the Cress Board Room at Arkansas Children's Hospital.  This year's moderator is Jim Pawelski, Director of AAP State Government Affairs.  Special guests included U.S. Congressman Marion Berry, State Senator Joyce Elliott and State Representative John Edwards.
